ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN ON A HASH ...
Nearly an hour into the hash from the Bridford Inn and I came across one of many latched gates. You have to press down on the latch and pull or push to open the gate. This was a pull towards me and it seemed to be stuck so I gave it an almighty heave and then found myself on my back on the ground with the gate post on top of me! On closer inspection, the post had seemingly rotted away at the base. Either that or someone was out to get Bluebird! For safety reasons, we left the post on the ground in case someone else befell the same fate.

HEAVY DUTY TRAIL FROM THE BRIDFORD INN
An excellent hash from the Bridford Inn in the Teign Valley with footage aplenty to follow. I extended my training days in a row to thirteen and it was nearly unlucky when misfortune overtook me on the trail quite unexpectedly. Footage upcoming ..

HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR THUS FAR
A scorcher here in Maidencombe and the hottest day of the year thus far. Shame I've spent the last two hours unblocking the drain outside. Eleven days straight running and due for a rest day but motivation remains very strong indeed.

SCENT OF LIFE - BREAKOUT
Left: as found April 21 2012. Right: Today tiny sprouts emerging from the narrow aperture. |
Published on 21 Apr 2012
Found in the woods close to where I
live in Maidencombe, Devon, United Kingdom, an old scent or cologne
bottle with a drop aperture. Think how many years it would have taken
for the tiny amounts of soil to percolate inside the bottle - ultimately
providing a miniature encapsulated ecosystem for life to sprout. A
tiny miracle of the persistence of nature to succeed ... See video in right hand side panel.
The Bluebird soars again
The adage 'One swallow does not a summer make' by Aristotle springs to mind with the return to gentle jogging of Bluebird (seen above winning the Herald Express 3 mile run for the fifth successive year).
Well, not just one but nine consecutive days of running have now elapsed giving rise to optimism that the Bluebird will soar again.

BLUEBIRD BEETLEJUICE AT THE CRIDFORD INN
Bluebird's back hashing and appears soberly (for him) attired in a Beetlejuice suit. And yes, he's going to wear it on the trail, cross country and river crossings ...
